I would like to introduce you to Ling and Lee. They were my Chinese dolls when I was a little girl. My mother pulled them out last year but couldn't find Master Lee's pants and top. Goodness, one of his legs was also missing. Poor little thing. Lings silk gown has seen better days and is quite in need of repair. Ling and Lee are quite worn and thread bare from providing years of playful fantasy and joy. My mother had carefully tucked them away with many other gems, in a large hand carved cedar trunk from overseas never imagining I would travel back to China to bring home my daughters. How I thank her for taking such great care in keeping these treasures just so. She even kept their little red silk pillow. It is obvious from their appearance how I loved these dolls. This week their tattered pillow will be attentively repaired and Lee will receive a new leg and later some clothes. It is the least I can do for the years of delight they gave me.
