— it only leads to evil.
I flipped through today's Utmost for His Highest soaking in Oswald's Chambers decisive words filled with spiritual insight on the Psalm. But Oh, how easy it is to say I will not worry or even simple to think I can actually do this. The fact is I cannot. When failures are many and emotions are high, this is when he calls us not to fret, not to worry or feel discontentment. I can not do this --- on my own. Do not fret, it only causes harm. Psalm 37:8 I flip back through Psalm 37 and read the entire chapter. On the pages I see hope, my heart soars as His spirit speaks through the precious sacred words. Words to encourage, words that command. And it is well with my soul.
What am I to do?
Do not fret because of evil men. ~ Trust in the LORD and do good. ~ Delight yourself in the LORD. Commit your way to the LORD. ~ Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him. ~ Refrain from anger and turn from wrath. ~ Do not fret when men succeed in their ways. ~Wait for the LORD and keep his way....
What will he do?
Let me dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. ~ He will give you the desires of your heart. ~ Those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land. ~Enjoy great peace. ~ In times of disaster they will not wither;
in days of famine they will enjoy plenty. ~ Their children will be blessed. ~ They will be protected forever. Their feet will not slip.
If the LORD delights in a man's way,
he makes his steps firm; though he stumble, he will not fall,
for the LORD upholds him with his hand.
The LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones.
The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord; he is their stronghold in time of trouble. The LORD helps them and delivers them;
.....because they take refuge in him.
Trust in him and he will do this. The Lord knows that worrying and fretting brings on sin. It does good neither spiritually, physically nor emotionally. It can cause us to be short tempered, impatient and sour, taking the focus away from what is important. Him. We may not have the courage to do it alone, but with His strength and hope all this and more is possible.
Enjoying a lovely visit from guests last week.
