In May of 2000 we began the process of adopting a little girl from China. After much paperwork and prayer we were finally DTC 12/29/2000. (they didn't have LID back then.)
On January 29, 2002, after waiting 13 months from our DTC date, we received a call from Pam at CCAI that we had a beautiful 10 month old baby girl waiting for us in Pingnan, Guangxi Autonomous Region in China. On March 8, 2002 we boarded a plane headed for Hong Kong to meet up with other families of CCAI groups 346 & 347. Our first in person look at our daughter (on left)!!! On March 10, 2002 our precious daughter was placed in my arms. I have never felt such immense joy as that moment. I will cherish it forever. Our little confused Fang Fang came right to me and didn't cry but she did stare us down for over an hour getting to know our faces. I held her bobbing and down on the edge of the bed and she soon feel fast asleep. She was disoriented that night when she woke often but didn't cry. Ahhh my little angel. The next morning she was up bright and early, smiling and ready to play! It was as if it had always been and she came to both of us willingly. Despite severe ear infections and puss coming from her ears she was happy mommy and daddy had finally come to get her. Hers was the dream adoption and I will ever be grateful to the Lord for giving us such a wonderful gift. The next morning. Our daughter was not without scars and did have signs of a child that had been institutionalized such as gagging herself for comfort and night terrors. But, these passed and she is now a delightful and bright soon to be 6 year old my entire family adores. she has become the sunshine of our lives.
